Isao Tomita passed away due to chronic heart failure at 2:51 PM on Thursday the 5th of May 2016 at Tokyo Metropolitan Hiroo Hospital [1]. He was 84 years of age. Tomita had collapsed around 12:00 PM on Thursday at his home, and was brought to the hospital where he later passed away with his family by his side. A private family funeral was held on Saturday the 7th and Sunday the 8th of May. A public farewell service is planned for later. Just before his death, Tomita was working on the performance of a new work called Dr. Coppelius, which was due for November 2016. We offer our condolences to all his family. May he rest in peace.
