[Misty Kid of Wind]

Album Details · Images

'Misty Kid of Wind', or 'Kaze no Matasaburo' in Japanese meaning Matasaburo (a boy's name) and the wind, was released by BMG Victor in 1989 in Japan only. The film from which the soundtrack is taken seems to be about a little boy in a white suit who appears and disappears in a Japanese village whenever the wind blows, but beyond that I can't tell you too much about the film as I don't know any Japanese myself. The sleeve notes are also in Japanese so I can't include any track details here.

The soundtrack features all original material with Tomita using some of the more modern synthesizers now available. A lot of the unrecreatable analogue sounds of his earlier recordings are gone, but it's still a great album. As with any soundtrack, you really have to see the movie to appreciate it best.

I have seen this advertised as 'Misty Kind of Wind', which perhaps sits more comfortably in English.
